Fence

I can still remember back to my first year I started gardening.   I can remember putting so much passion into my little garden.  I was so proud of it and couldn’t wait to harvest my organic food.  And then one morning I went out to tend to my garden and ALL of my garden had been nibbled on or eaten by some little pest!  Oh how disappointed I was.  As a tear rolled down my face, I knew at…

Veggie Dip

Welcome to Family Friendly Friday!  Today my two chefs are my twin daughters, Aubree and Brynn.  This recipe is so simple, I didn’t even have to help them!  Now was there a mess?  Yes!  But isn’t that part of the fun?  My girls sure think it is.  I am so thankful that my twins are not my picky eaters.  They love veggies and always ask me for some “veggie dip”!  So this is our recipe, we hope you enjoy…

The Perfect Grass Fed Burger

I LOVE grass fed burgers!  I always have a freezer full of grass fed beef.  Right now I have about 50 pounds of ground beef in my freezer!  50 pounds??  Yes, I buy my grass fed meat from a local farmer and buy it by the quarter side.  There is nothing like it!  I take comfort in knowing that my beef came from 1 healthy grass fed cow, a reputable farmer and butcher and that I am supporting local farmers….

Blondies

My daughters birthday is this weekend and I have to send some brownies in to her class for a special treat.  I had planned on only making a batch of my texas sheet cake (recipe is in my cookbook) but as my daughter was walking out the door this morning she informed me ” You know mom, not everyone likes chocolate like you do.”  What, not like chocolate??  She was right, even one of my twins don’t like chocolate….

Ricotta

I love making my own yogurt now.  It is so easy and takes me less then 5 minutes to prepare.  If you are interested in making your own yogurt, you can view my recipe here:  How To Make Your Own Raw  Organic Yogurt.  When I make my yogurt, I drain off the whey to make a thicker yogurt.  I use a full gallon of raw milk to make my yogurt and from that I get 2 quarts of raw…

Seeds

This weekend I spent some time, actually very little time, planting seeds in my garden.  I think a lot of individuals get intimidated by the thought of gardening.  I am here to show you how easy it is to start your own garden.  In this post I am planting my peas in my 4′x4′ square foot garden, but these peas could easily be planted in a container.  You only need your soil to be 6 inches deep, yes that is…

Sourdough Pancakes

My family and I LOVE pancakes.  If you have been visiting this site often, you might have noticed all the different pancake recipes I have posted from time to time.  Oat flour pancakes, cottage cheese pancakes, banana nut pancakes, and now these pancakes.  These pancakes are made with a sourdough pancake mix.  Sourdough bread/pancakes are a healthy way to consume grains because you are fermenting the dough which allows for proper absorption of essential minerals making them a better…
