I also use the leaves to brew with my tea all summer long and then do a full harvest in the fall. It is a pretty hardy plant.

I hope I get at least a small harvest this year. Can I take a cutting from my plan and grow it indoors to replant outside next year? Or is it best to just buy a new plants each year? Is there more care than just light watering for stevia? Unfortunately I am in a harsh climate and have hard clay like soil, so I am trying to combat those as well!

I’ve had bariatric surgery and cannot eat any natural sweeteners, with the exception of Stevia. I’d really like to learn how to cook with it. I’ve never used artificial sweeteners and don’t want to start. I haven’t even thought of growing my own Stevia. I’d love and suggestions or resources you make have on getting started with Stevia (cooking & growing.) Thanks for the info and the video. I’ll be back for more.
Lynne

It is when I try to transplant it that I always lose it. Thanks for your reply!

I don’t know if I overwater or what. I would love nothing more than a huge bed of stevia, I love it so much. What else can you tell me about growing it? When do you plant it outdoors?  Thanks so much for this video, I absolutely loved it!

They don’t recommend that you grow it from seed rather from a cutting…it is very hard to germinate. That being said…I got mine to germinate just fine. In regards to the liquid stevia, I am not sure…I will get back to you on that.

The top of my stevia was growing flowers so I pinched and threw out. Didn’t realize this was good.

I will definately grow my own stevia next year. Is there a place to order seeds that you recommend? Also, how much liquid stevia = 1 cup sugar? Thanks again!
