Ok, so I am a day late with this post… but yesterday I was out on a Family Friendly Friday Adventure and I would love to share it with you all! I am always looking for fun ways to educate my kids about nature, gardening, health and travel! The other day my girls and I were at the library getting some summer reading books and I was sitting next to this nice grandfather that let me in on a little hidden treasure! About 1 hour from me was this place called Bookworm Gardens! I asked “What is that?” He pulled his camera out and began telling me about this amazing place.
Bookworm Gardens is a place that takes classic childhood stories like Three Little Pigs, Goldilocks and The Three Bears, The Magic School Bus and they take props from these books and place them throughout their gardens so you and your family can have an interactive experience. Along with this, they place the books all throughout the gardens so you can sit and read the stories to your children and then they can act out the stories throughout their gardens!
For My local viewers out there or if you are ever in the Milwaukee area, this is a must see day trip! There had to be 50 different books throughout their gardens and my girls knew almost all of them. My only complaint is that I didn’t allocate enough time, we were only there for 2 hours (they were closing) and we could have spent hours more there! Oh and did I mention that Bookworm Gardens is FREE? Yes, it runs on donations and is free to the public. Wow, what a treat! This treasure is nestle in a little town called Sheboygan Wisconsin. You can get easy directions on the Bookworm Gardens website!
Here are a few photos of the gardens from our day yesterday!
After we finished our tour of Bookworm Gardens, we heading to the lake to build some sand castles and enjoy the sun!
We found a local at the beach and asked where we should go for some good grub and he informed us of this little diner, Charcoal Grill and we headed there for dinner. Was this a healthy meal? Not by a long shot but it was part of our whole day trip experience! 🙂 After dinner we headed to the peer to go for an evening stroll. It was absolutely beautiful and my girls so enjoyed the lakeside breeze and getting a little exercise! This was a perfect day trip!
