Throwing That Scale Out!
Time and time again I tell my clients to THROW THAT SCALE AWAY! Scales are not your friend and do not give you a realistic number for your weight loss journey.
Think of a body builder who has very little fat on their bodies. That individual can weigh a lot more then you would think because of their muscle volume. There are so many factors that can effect the scale.
I can assure you that if you have a muscular body and weigh more than a person who has very little muscle volume, you will be in much better shape to maintain a healthy weight.
Have you ever been in this situation? You have consistently worked out for a month straight, and ate very well without even cheating once. At the end of the month you get on that scale excited to see how much that number has fallen only to be completely disappointed and frustrated to see that the numbers didn’t change at all or in fact went up a few pounds? How could this have happened?
The answer is simple, you are most likely gaining muscle which is a good thing…and muscle weighs more than fat and will burn more calories in the long run. Your body might also be in a healing phase. Your body is doing what it is suppose to for weight loss but unfortunately this is where many people give up and throw in the towel!
A Healthy Journey
Weight loss is a journey. When you start your journey you oftentimes will lose weight quickly in the first few weeks. Many individuals get excited, they have finally found something that works! They think that this quick 10 pound loss is a normal rate to lose weight and again become frustrated when the weight loss slows down. People often ask themselves, What am I doing wrong? The answer…Nothing!
Those first 10 pounds most likely is water weight and a realistic number to lose a week is 1-2 pounds. It took time to gain weight, it should also take some time to lose it. There is no magic diet out there. You just have to eat whole, naturals unprocessed foods that are right for you and you need to get some exercise! Yah, yah, yah… I get that but what is right for me?
No two individuals are alike and neither are your dietary or exercise needs. What works for one person could totally flop for the next. Discovering what your unique dietary needs are, is not all that difficult. If you would like an introduction to my e-course, I am offering the first 5 videos of this e-course for free in this FREE mini e-course (sign up form is the second picture down), I have put together 5 videos demonstrating your unique journey. It is a FREE mini introduction e-course so what do you have to lose?
My Weight Might Surprise You!
So back to that pesky scale! I no longer own a scale. I use to be a slave to that thing and my emotions would go up and down every time that I got onto that scale. Stressing out about those numbers does you way more harm then good when trying to get healthy. Besides those numbers on the scale can often times be deceiving.
Contest ~ Can You Guess My Weight? I Am 5′ 6″ Tall.
To prove a point, I wanted to share two pictures with you. The top picture and this picture below were both taken on the same day. I have to share this with you…I can not believe I am sharing these pictures! I have no make up on, my hair is a mess and my 6 year old took the pictures (hence the blurriness). I had two business formals that I had to attend and these were the two dresses that I was considering to wear. The flashy one was for a Vegas business trip, thought I could pull it off there! 😉 Here is where the fun starts! I want you to guess my weight to enter into this contest.

My Weight Revealed
Alright the contest is now over! We had one winner. Congratulations to Debbie Watson who guessed my weight correctly! Lets see how close you were. Remember, the scale is just a number! Thats all! Go with how you feel and how your clothes are fitting.
Here is my weight in these 2 pictures.
My weight is 163 !
Not to many people even guessed in the 160’s so as you can see, the scale can be very deceiving. Go with how you feel and how your clothes fit. Understand that getting healthy is a process and big goals are achieved thorough little steps and victories along the way.
One Final Note
Here is my dear friend Dana, who opened my eyes to the importance of building muscle! She is an amazing fitness instructor who has helped so many people improve their lifestyles! Dana and I weigh the same. We do have a 4″ height difference. We both are fit with muscle and weigh the same! Her weight…163! Doesn’t she look fabulous? Oh and did I mention, we both have had a set of twins/multiples, so you could imagine how stretched our tummies were at one point! 🙂
You can easily start making changes by adding weights and toning exercises to your exercise routine. I am not talking about going to the gym…just get yourself a set of dumbbells and start by taking my 30 Day Dumbbell Challenge. It will make a difference, I promise!
What did you guess? Were you anywhere close to guessing my real weight? |
