1. Facebook Pages Manager
By now almost everyone seems to be on Facebook! Pages Manager helps admins connect with their audience and keep up with activity on multiple Pages, all in one place. I participate with several different Facebook pages so this allows me to have access to all of my pages and also my personal account when I need too.
With this app, I am notified when someone post or comments on my page. I can view my statistics with this app and also post to multiple pages.

2. Pinterest
Pinterest is the quickest growing social media today. If you haven’t started using Pinterest, you might want to reconsider! I received 85,000 repins from my organic strawberry post posted this past June. That is a lot of traffic for such a little post 🙂
Pinterest is a tool to find your inspiration and share it with others. Use it to collect things you love, organize and plan important projects, and more.
Pinterest allows you to create your own boards, kind of like a bulletin board and then you pin things to that board that you like. So if we follow my strawberries post that I spoke about earlier, that I have pinned on my organic gardening board. The pins then show up on a community board where others can see and repin if they choose too.
This app helps me follow and interact with my followers and allows me to pin my posts on the run! You can connect with us on Pinterest at Halle Cottis @ Whole Lifestyle Nutrition.

11. Whole Lifestyle Nutrition (or Your Own Website)
Did you know you can make your own website into an app for free? In reality, it is just your website that you can quickly access, but if you are like me, I am always on my site so this little app is quite handy.
To do this, simply pull up the website that you want as an app. Now click on the square box with in arrow in it located at the bottom, middle of the screen at the bottom of the image below (see image below). A window will come up and you click on the button that says “Add to Home Screen”. You then are taken to one more screen where you are able to name the icon what you would like. My website name is to long, so I shortened mine to WLN. Click on the blue “Add” button at the top right of the screen. That is it! You now have your own app!

15. Camera + (iPhones only)
Oh my is this app a good one! Camera + is an app that is a step up from the regular iPhone camera because it allows you to edit and add filters, borders, and many other cool features.
We all know that it can sometimes be difficult to take a desirable picture with your phone. Sure, they have come a LONG way, but sometimes you need to tweak the photo a bit to make it into that WOW photo. This app allows you to do that. You can edit a picture by scenes, adjust the picture to the left or right or flip it around, you can crop the picture, add some filters or special effects and last but not least, you can add a border (with or without text) if you desire. A great handy tool to use when you are out and about and don’t have your DSLR camera handy!
Camera+ (iPhone Only) Cost: $.99
16. iMovie
So this app is amazing to me! I shoot a lot of videos. iMovie allows me to shoot a movie (that looks great!) and then put it into movie format with music, text and also has some great editing capabilities. Making a movie has never been so easy!
Before I had this app, I would pull out the tripod, set up my video camera, shoot the video and then upload it to my computer. I then would have to edit it, add music and upload it to youtube. A short video would easily take my a day to make and post.
With this app, I now can shoot a movie, edit it, add music and/or a voice over and upload it to youtube all with this one device. My last video I shot took me less than half hour from start to finish! I see more videos coming your way in the near future on Whole Lifestyle Nutrition! 😀

Yikes! I only have a dinky pre paid cell phone. Guess I should talk about maybe the merits of a smart phone – what do you think???
hallecottis says
@Adrienne Whole New Mom You are so funny Adrienne 🙂 Yep, might be time to look into a smartphone…it is so helpful when managing a blog! You were looking into one weren’t you?
Adrienne Whole New Mom says
@hallecottis Yes. I need a pros and cons list. I am on the computer way too much now. I would think it would be hard to get much done on b/c to needing to type, etc. ???
hallecottis says
@Adrienne Whole New Mom Most of these apps I also have on my iPad and that and I have a keyboard for that when I want to write a post. Have you purchased a tablet/iPad yet?
Adrienne Whole New Mom says
@hallecottis No. Just a silly cheapo prepaid phone and a nice laptop. (Mac). So again – pros vs cons :). I am all ears.
hallecottis says
@Adrienne Whole New Mom Well you have a mac, so a lot of these apps you can get right on your mac. Do you buy apps for you mac. Most of them are free. Let me search my mac app store to see if they are available.I have to say, I feel it gives me more free time having my iPhone. I am a multi tasker so when an email comes in I just quickly answer it as I get them. If it needs more attention then I keep it unread.
I also feel I am not stuck at my computer all day and can be out and about. Now some may think that you never leave work, but I don’t see it that way.
Adrienne Whole New Mom says
How funny! I just came back and saw I’m on your Twitter mention :).
hallecottis says
@Adrienne Whole New Mom Oh gosh, I guess I should have asked you…are you okay with that?
pythonesk99 says
Dang, I hate technology. I dragged the Ziplist recipe grabber to my toolbar, like it said, and the “ZipList’s Web Recipe Clipper” is now on my toolbar, but when I click on it it takes me back to the ziplist website from whence I dragged the doohicky in the first place. Which then overlays the site I was on with the great recipe. WTF?!? Can anyone help? Thanks!
hallecottis says
@pythonesk99 Oh no, did you get this figured out yet? So you have created an account right?
pythonesk99 says
@hallecottis Yes, I created an account, and I was able to save a recipe from your site to it. But the Recipe Clipper button doesn’t work. Argh! I tried clipping a recipe for gluten-free rolls from magazine site Living Without, but it just took me back to the page where I grabbed the button from.
