Fun In The Sun, Swimming Time!
Oh my goodness, we were so excited! A few years ago we were on our way to sunny Florida to see if we were ready to make a life move to the sunshine state.
We all got new swimwear and rented a home with a pool because the only thing my girls wanted to do was to swim!
As soon as we stepped foot into sunny Florida, you could pretty much say that we were living in the water.
Our Swimsuits Fell Apart In Less Than A Week!
After swimming daily for a week, to our surprise, our swimsuits began to fall apart after only one week! These were brand new swimsuits, and quality swimwear too! What did we do wrong?
Certainly, our swimsuits should last more than a week, right?
What was I missing here? How could I naturally make our swimsuits last longer?
What To Look For When Buying A Swimsuit
As I mentioned, we bought quality suits. Swimwear can be expensive, especially adult swimwear.
But did you know that buying a swimsuit that is 100% polyester can increase the longevity of your swimsuit?
Polyester can withstand the harsh chemicals of a chlorinated pool, and can withstand the sun better than other fabrics. So do your best to find a polyester swimsuit.
But do note…just because a swimsuit is made of polyester doesn’t mean you don’t have to take care of it!
And have no fear, if you have fallen in love with a non-polyester swimsuit, no worries there…we can still protect your swimsuit with this one simple tip!
Follow This One Tip And Naturally Make Your Swimsuit Last Longer!
So no matter what fabric you have for your swimsuit, this one tip will make your swimsuit last longer!
- After swimming, fill a sink full of cold water.
- Fully submerge your wet swimsuit into the cold water.
- Gently rinse your swimsuit in cold water and allow it to soak for 5 minutes.
- Drain water and rinse the swimsuit in cold water for one final rinse.
- Gently squeeze the water out, without ringing your swimsuit. Ringing a swimsuit can break down the fabric, so never ring a swimsuit.
- Dry the swimsuit by laying it flat in a towel or by hanging it up in a shower or outdoors. Allow the swimsuit to fully dry.
If at all possible, have a few swimsuits to alternate between swimming.
My Swimsuit Has Lasted Over 2 Years (Swimming Weekly) With This Method!
That’s it! Can you believe it? Rinsing a swimsuit in cold water after EVERY swim can dramatically increase the life of your swimsuit.
We have since moved to Florida, and we purchased a home with a swimming pool. I have had the same swimsuits for over 2 years and I wear that swimsuit weekly in our pool.
Just remember, you must ALWAYS rinse the swimsuit. Forgetting to do so even once will start to break down the fibers of the swimsuit. Simply rinse and hang and you will be good to go…it is that easy!
