Description

The best gluten free bread recipe that is made without brown rice flour! Great for sandwiches and toast!

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups gluten free all purpose flour without brown rice flour ~ See Recipe
  • 1 cup warm milk (about 110ºF) of choice (nut milk, fresh coconut milk or raw goat or cow’s milk)
  • 1/4 cup organic cane sugar
  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • 1/4 cup butter or ghee melted and cooled
  • 2 large eggs

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine warm milk, sugar and yeast. Stir and dissolve the yeast and allow the yeast mixture to sit for 10 minutes.
  2. In a large mixer bowl that attaches to a stand up mixer, combine the gluten free all purpose flour and salt and turn the mixer on low and for a few seconds to blend.
  3. Add the yeast mixture to the flour and blend on low for 30 seconds.
  4. Add in butter and eggs and blend on low scraping the sides as needed. Blend until dough is well blended, about 30 seconds.
  5. Turn the mixer on high and beat for 3 minutes or until the batter becomes smooth.
  6. Cover the bowl with a towel and allow the dough to rise in a warm place for an hour. I heated my oven up to 100ºF and then turned the oven off and placed it in the oven for an hour.
  7. Grease a 8×4 or a 9×5″ bread pan with coconut oil or butter. Stir the dough after it has rose for an hour and gently place it into the prepared bread pan.
  8. Cover with a piece of greased plastic wrap and loosely lay it on top and allow the bread to rise in a warm place for another 20-30 minutes or until the loaf rises just to the top of the loaf pan.
  9. Preheat the oven to 350ºF and bake the bread for 40-50 minutes. The bread will be golden brown on top and have a hard shell.
  10. Remove from pan and completely cool before slicing into it. Once cool, slice and enjoy!

Notes

Please note: this recipe has been tested to work without brown rice flour. It has not been tested any other way and I highly recommend that you follow this recipe exactly as written with no substitutions.

    Hi!
Can we use olive oil or canola oil instead of butter? Because we are trying to avoid Gluten and dairy.

HI, I used oat flour instead and my batter was quite liquidy and not like a dough you can just pick up out of a bowl. It looked like a pancake batter. Is it supposed to be like that?

Can I omit the sugar (due to Candida diet) in this recipe without it ruining it?

My daughter has recently gone gluten free, and I wanted to make a homemade yeast bread for her. This was the first recipe I found, and I won’t look further! This bread is delicious! It is so moist and flavorful. Even family members who are not gluten free went on and on about how good it was – even into the next day. Thank you for sharing!!

I made this recipe this morning and absolutely love it. I have recently learned I am rather sensitve to gluten now. So, needed to find a way to replace my bread. Spent a good while looking through recipes until I found one that “felt” good. This was it. Although, I have to say, as a decades old cook, I can say this, ANY recipe can be altered to suit individual needs/likes. That being said, I did NOT omit brown rice flower, I used a 1 to 1 All purpose gluten free flour, no special brand. I also did not use sea salt I used pink salt. Also, I added 1/4 cup of Hemp Hearts, so that the fiber intake in this would be High! The bread came out perfectly, and was very very delicious. Will continue to use it, with my alterations. Oh and if you have so much trouble after eating high fiber foods, then as a nurse, and herbatologist, I can advise that you need to look at the rest of ur diet more closely as fiber should not do that to you. When it does though, you can easily get rid of it by simply drinking a glass of water with 2-3 drops of Peppermint Oil. It will kill the gas and bloating naturally.

Thank you for the BEST gf bread recipe. I use Aldi self raising flour, soya milk and add a handful of seeds which blend perfectly. I also use ONE bowl because I like shortcuts, by adding flour eggs etc to yeast and milk mixture and allow to rise in pan as long as it takes. I’ve ruined one lot of yeast by making it too hot. Thank you for this fab recipe. PS I place a piece of foil on top after about fifteen mins to prevent burning. Thank you again and a wave from Oz!

Anyone have a suggestion for someone who cannot have white or brown rice, potato, sorghum, gluten, yeast, or almond? Bread is one of my favorite foods. Since the test results, have not been able to have “bread.” Have been searching..
