Organic Cream Of Tomato Soup Recipe

Nutrition Info

  • Calories: 132.6
  • Fat: 3.8g
  • Carbohydrates: 21.1g
  • Protein: 5.5g

Ingredients

  • 4 cups fresh tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 4 whole cloves
  • 2 cups chicken broth (Click here for Halle’s chicken broth recipe)
  • 1 tbsp arrowroot powder
  • 1 tbsp cold water
  • 1 tsp unrefined sea salt
  • 1 tsp organic cane sugar or sweetener of choice
  • 1/4 cup organic half and half

Directions

  1. Combine tomatoes, onions, garlic and chicken broth.
  2. Bring to a simmer and simmer for 25 minutes.
  3. Remove from heat and run the mixture through a food mill into a large bowl.
  4. Discard any stuff left over in the food mill.
  5. Pour strained soup back into the pot and bring back to a slight simmer.
  6. In a small bowl combine arrowroot powder and water and pour into soup.
  7. Add your sugar and salt.
  8. Allow to thicken and pull off the burner.
  9. Allow to cool for about 10 minutes and then add your half and half.

Serving Size: Makes 4 Cups, Serving size is 1 cup

    Halle, can we use Arrowroot Starch from Bob’s Red Mill in this? I can get this locally so I don’t have to order online, wanted to know if it would work, thanks for all the recipes.

    Tomato soup and garlic bread is what I am looking froward to eat on the chilly days of the coming winter! My mom’s recipe is very similar to yours. She always makes “jeera” or cumin rice that is a perfect accompaniment with the soup 🙂 Thanks for sharing Halle 🙂
