Picking Strawberries
Welcome to Family Friendly Fridays! This week my girls and I set out to pick some strawberries! Oh my, how wonderful fresh strawberries are, we absolutely love them! We ended up picking a little over 10 pounds which might seem like a lot, but in our family that lasts us about a week. 🙂
I have several amazing recipes that we love to use fresh strawberries in. Here are 3 of our favorites:
- Fresh Organic Berry Dressing
- Strawberry Avocado Salad
- Grilled Pork Tenderloin With Strawberry BBQ Sauce
Here is a quick video of my girls enjoying the fun… I only had my iPhone, so sorry about the small frame.
How To Create The Juiciest Strawberries Ever!
These are wonderful recipes, but our favorite way to prepare strawberries is to just cut them up and let them create their own natural juices. As with most fruits, they are best when they are at room temperature.
To create the juiciest strawberries ever, pull your strawberries out of the refrigerator and clean and slice. Place in a bowl and sprinkle a little sucanat or another natural sweetener of choice. Adding sweetener is optional but it gives a nice shiny glaze to your strawberries. A little goes a long way. The other night I cut up 2 pounds of strawberries and sprinkled only 1 tsp of sucanat on them. They were wonderful!
Now after you cut the strawberries and sprinkle them with a bit of sweetener, simply leave out at room temperature for 4 hours stirring every hour. After the 4 hours are up, you will have the juiciest strawberries ever!
