Prep Time: 1 min
Cook Time: 2 mins
Total Time: 3 minutes
Yield: About 2/3 cup 1x
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup organic grade b pure maple syrup
- 2 tbsp butter from a grass fed source
- coarse sea salt to taste (be generous, this IS a salted caramel)!
Instructions
- Preheat a pan on medium to medium high heat for about a minute or until nice and hot.
- Add maple syrup and allow it to bubble (see video).
- Add in butter and gentle stir in, but do not over stir.
- Allow the mixture to boil for 1 full minutes. It should be a rolling boil (see video).
- Remove from heat and turn burner off. Allow to sit until completely cooled.
- Add in a generous amount of coarse salt and stir. Store in refrigerator.
Notes
Please note, if you cook it to little it will still be in syrup form and if you cook it to long, it will be in candy form. Both are still good, but it might take some tweaking to get the desired consistency.

Thanks very much! I’m planning on doing the apples and using India Tree sprinkles (made with vegetable food dye) on some and Sundrops (healthier chocolate drops like M and M’s) on some…and making right before we give them out.
Love simple clean ingredients. I couldn’t find the video. I like to have a piece of candy at night after dinner. I figured, let me make some caramels. I think I cooked it for too long. I think they are turning into hard candy. Delish, nevertheless.
Will have to try to make them softer. How long should I cook it to make them into soft chewy caramels ?

Us the consistency of it as boiled condensed milk? I am looking for replacement for boiled condensed milk that I use to fill cookies..
OMG! Best caramel recipe ever! Best thing it doesn’t require half and half cream! Just as delicious as regular caramel just actually real! Made with good ingredients! I followed recipe procedure and worked out nicely, I had more of a syrup, but as it cooled was thicker and could work for any drizzle!
