Better yet, one of my favorite things to eat is my salted caramel ice cream! Have you tried it? It is amazing!
I was looking for a great salted caramel sauce however that you could use to top ice cream, fresh fruit or even in some delicious greek yogurt!

3 Ingredients 3 Minutes Organic Salted Caramel Recipe
Prep Time: 1 min
Cook Time: 2 mins
Total Time: 3 minutes
Yield: About 2/3 cup 1x
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup organic grade b pure maple syrup
- 2 tbsp butter from a grass fed source
- coarse sea salt to taste (be generous, this IS a salted caramel)!
Instructions
- Preheat a pan on medium to medium high heat for about a minute or until nice and hot.
- Add maple syrup and allow it to bubble (see video).
- Add in butter and gentle stir in, but do not over stir.
- Allow the mixture to boil for 1 full minutes. It should be a rolling boil (see video).
- Remove from heat and turn burner off. Allow to sit until completely cooled.
- Add in a generous amount of coarse salt and stir. Store in refrigerator.
Notes
Please note, if you cook it to little it will still be in syrup form and if you cook it to long, it will be in candy form. Both are still good, but it might take some tweaking to get the desired consistency.

I’d love to try these, but I am doing GAPS and can’t have maple syrup. Do you think honey will work as well?
I do think honey would work…if you try it, please do come back and let us know 🙂
I will!
Will this sauce work to make caramel apples?
Yes, I think it would work great. Let it cool a bit so it thickens and then give it a go! 🙂
This looks amazing, I can’t believe you only need 3 ingredients. I too think I will try it with organic honey instead of the maple syrup, can’t wait to try it.
Okay, I’ve used this recipe before, and it was so delicious. I just found your website again, now it’s bookmarked, Yay!Thanks so much for a healthy recipe, and with no creamer, or half&half. Will be using today to make caramel apple cider.
Oh wow, that sounds delicious! 🙂
I cannot tolerate milk proteins, I’m wondering if this would work with a butter substitute (i.e. Earth Balance)? Or perhaps Ghee, which I seem to tolerate.
I wouldn’t use earth balance, but ghee would certainly work.
Great recipe. Since it does not call for cream what would the shelf life be on this recipe?
I usually just make only what I will eat, but if refrigerated it should keep upwards to a month or so.
What do you mean by candy? like a caramel? or sugar candy?
[…] My favorite one listed above that is an absolute must to try is the honey caramel apple cider. Yum! I also love my 3-minute, 3 ingredient caramel recipe. […]

Hi! Do you think this would work to give out at Halloween…with an apple! of course…in a small mason jar, couple of inches high…wrapped a cellophane bag…with a label on cellophane with instructions to refrigerate? Thinking of this or making the caramel apples with your recipe. Any advice would be much appreciated!
Hi Bailey,
Maybe as an apple dipping sauce, but not sure it would adhere to an actual apple. I would test it out in a small batch first to see how it holds up. Sounds like a great idea, let me know how it goes!
Thanks for your reply! I meant that I would give as a dipping sauce with an apple…or make the caramel apples on your website. I noticed that you wrote that they are best enjoyed right away…do you think if would work to make them a day ahead, keep in fridge, and give out on Halloween evening? I should practice this week, I know! And do you think the caramel apple recipe you have will keep in the fridge for two weeks like a typical SAD caramel apple would? Thanks again for your time!
I’m not sure Bailey, I would just test it out to see if you get the desired results that you are looking for.
